 Their Story

Jacqueline Jayne Jones was born in Birmingham UK on the 1st July 1967. The third of four children born to Ken and Betty Jones. In 1973 her parents decided to emigrate to Australia, they arrived in Perth in 1973. Jackie attended Spearwood Primary School, then Coobellup Primary, and finished her school years at North Lake High School.

She loved her netball and played and coached for many years. She married her first husband Lorri Urbini in Fremantle in 1985 and they had 3 children, Kerri, Shane and Thomas, all born in Fremantle. Sometime in the late nineties the family moved south and purchased a home in Donnybrook, where the kids all attended the local schools.

She and Lorri divorced in 2005.

She found employment as a cleaner at the Donnybrook High School, eventually training as an aged carer and worked at aged care homes in Donnybrook and Busselton before joining Silver Chain as a home visit carer. She loved her job and was excellent at it. Often working well outside her paid hours, she was loved dearly by her clients and work mates.

In 2007 she married Paul Winters and became a stepmum to Jed and Jack. They purchased a house in Kirup in which Jackie indulged in her passion of gardening. After a few years there they moved to Busselton, before a final move to Capel in 2017. There she created a lovely garden, and it was her pride and joy.

With Paul she travelled the Nullarbor several times on holidays and thoroughly enjoyed catching up with friends and family in the eastern states.

Jackie was at her happiest when her children visited, the garden was tidy and the Dockers were winning — simple pleasures for a simply beautiful lady.

Jackie became ill in 2015 and was diagnosed with a rare cancer. She bravely battled the cancer, enduring countless chemo treatments. She went into remission, but 6 months later it returned and for the next 4 years battled on with more chemo treatments before she eventually lost that battle and passed away on the 5 July 2019 at the Bunbury Regional Hospital, her children by her side. She was 52 years old.
