THE LATE MRS. THELMA WATT.

The death occurred on Monday, 3rd inst., of a well known and highly respected resident of Greenmount, in the person of the late Mrs. Dorothy Thelma Elizabeth Watt, wife of Mr. Alexander S Watt of the W.A Government Railways.  Mrs. Alexander Watt has been a resident of Greenmount for the past seven years, and after a short illness passed away on Monday last.  She had always taken a keen interest in the public affairs of Greenmount, being a warm supporter particularly of the Greenmount Show, and was secretary of the ladies’ committee.  She was an ardent worker in connection with the Church of England and occupied the position of secretary to the Greenmount Branch of the G.F.S. for a number of years.  Prior to her marriage she was associated with the Education Department.  Her death will be a great loss to the community in which she resided.  The funeral took place on Tuesday last, the cortege moving from the service chapel of Messrs. Donald J. Chipper and Son, Hay Street, Perth and proceeding to the Church of England cemetery, Karrakatta, where her remains were interred in the presence of a large gathering of friends. Rev. G. F. Humphrey, of Bellevue, officiated at the graveside.  Born and brought up in Midland Junction, the deceased lady was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David B. Reid and was exceedingly popular.

The chief mourners were Mr. Alexander S. Watt (husband), Mr D.B. Reid (father), Mr. A.E. Watt (father-in-law), David, Jim, Douglas and Mack Reid (brothers), Jack Watt (brother in law), H.M.C and G Garder, R. and N. Lovelock, D. H. Campbell (uncles), Mrs N. Lovelock (aunt), J.S.W. and V. Garder, J. and E. Lovelock, K. Campbell and Mr. And Mrs. Mockridge (cousins) and Mr. T. Carrick.  The pall bearers were Messrs. C.M. Scott, W. Cope, H. Gardner, W. Home, C. H. Masters, D. H. Campbell, J. Hassen and W. Jilley. 

Among the many present were Messrs. W. Whitehorn, T. Gelding, H.G. Menkins, C. Moyle, S. DeGaris, J. Bernard, H. Bince, C. Cream, S. Laidlaw, R. Sherrard (representing Railway Officers’ Union), G.W. Dean, J. P. Coe, A. E Hendren, F. R. Parker, J. Webster, J. and T. Merson, A. J. Gillan, E.R and R. Spurling, W.F. Tilley, Mesdames Bince, Groser, Hassen, Brown, Gilmore and may others including member of the Girls’ friendly Society.  Wreaths and floral tributes were received from the following:  Mr. and Mrs. Barnard and family, Mrs. Welbourne, Min, Tom and Jack Webster, the Greenmount Branch of the Girls’ Friendly Society, Staff of Chief Traffic Manager and Operating Room, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson, Eileen, Gladys and Les, Mr and Mrs Since and family, Mr. And Mrs. Masters and Amy, Mr. and Mrs. I. Cousins, Mr and Mrs O.A.R ***nell, Mr. and Mrs. Spurling and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gilmore, Mr. and Mrs Charles Gardner, Mr. and Mrs. Carrick and Miss Isles, Mr and Mrs J. Hansen and family, and G. Stores, Grandma Norm Wyn and family, Uncle Hawley, Auntie Ethel and cousins, Uncle Harry and Auntie Rose and family and numerous others.
