Their Story

James Owen Roberts (Jnr) was the fourth child of five children born to James Owen (JO) and Lavinia Clifton Gardiner (Quin) Roberts nee Rose. James was the second last child born to his parents. He died the same year his younger sister Peggy was born.

James’s short life ended 30th October 1928 after being bitten by a snake. He was taken to St Clair’s Hospital Bunbury. Although did not survive the snake bite. The area the family lived was marshy and swampy terrain making ideal conditions for venomous snakes to habitat in. This was a constant worry for every one of the potential for snake bite.

ROBERTS- On October 30, at St Clairs, Bunbury, James Owen Roberts dearly beloved infant son of Mr. and Mrs. J.O. Roberts of Capel; aged 2 years and 2 months.
