Eric Cyril Gibson was born just before the end of WW1 to John Finlayson Gibson and Marion Edith Payne. He enlisted in the Royal Australian Airforce in 1941 in Bunbury and was discharged in November 1945.
He rose within the ranks from fitter to flight mechanic and then to aircrew and pilot
